Welcome to Practice Room: Step-by-Step Onboarding Guide

We’re excited to have you and your student join Practice Room! Follow this guide to create an account, join your classroom, and start making music with our in-browser Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).
Step 1 (Students): Accept Your Classroom Invitation
Check your email inbox for an invitation from Practice Room.
Click “Join Classroom.”
You’ll be prompted to create a Practice Room account if you don’t already have one. Fill in your name, email, and password, then click Sign Up.
Step 2: Accessing Practice Room
After creating your account, navigate to Practice Room:
From the Home Page, click Launch in the menu.

Alternatively:
Click Practice Room: you will be taken to the landing page with a button to launch and access to help articles like this one.
Mobile: You'll be sent directly to the classroom page where you can see the classrooms and groups that you're a part of.
Desktop: You will be prompted to log-in with your preferred method (Google, Facebook, or Practice Room credentials).

Step 3: Navigating to Your Classroom
Mobile View: click into your classroom.
Desktop View: select the classroom button in the sidebar. Please note that you may be asked to sign in again upon first-time access.

Step 5 (Teachers): Creating a Group
For teachers only. Any non-teacher user request to create a group will be denied unless otherwise discussed.
To create a group, select the button "Create Group"
Please set your privacy and visibility settings to Private and Hidden for the security of your classroom. If these are not selected, they will be manually set by admin unless otherwise discussed.
Once your classroom is live you will be notified and able to invite students and parents via email.

Step 6: Recording & Sequencing
Recording Your Performance:
Click the Record button in the DAW toolbar.
Click the arrow next to the Record button to select your microphone input.
Using the Sequencer:
Open the Sequencer to arrange different instruments.
Click on the notes to create your musical patterns.

Step 7: Explore & Have Fun!
Try changing the User Mode in the sidebar and check out the additional features that Practice Room has to offer!
Record a short clip or experiment with different instruments in the Sequencer.
Check assignments or collaborative projects shared by your teacher.
